INMATE VISITATION

Approved applicants only: a person wishing to visit an incarcerated individual must fill out an application prior to visiting. Applications can be picked up at the Sierra County Detention Facility located at 311 N Date, T or C, NM 87901.

The application process may take up to 3 business days for approval. The application must be returned to the Facility filled out completely with a current Drivers License or other photo identification to be copied and attached to the application.

Visiting hours are every weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-3:30pm.

A maximum of 3 visitors may visit an inmate for a limit of 1/2 hour total visitation time per weekend. Extra visiting hours are sometimes arranged if an inmate is on good behavior. Special visitation is determined by the on-shift Supervisor and/or Jail Administrator.
 
Non-allowable items: visitors are not allowed to bring in any items that interfere with the security of the Detention Facility. These items include cell phones, electronic devices, cameras, weapons, tobacco products or ignition devices, purses and/or bags.

Dress codes apply to all visitors. Clothing may not be decorated with offensive language, gestures or pictures. No halter tops, tank tops, see-through clothing or bathing suits are allowed.  Skirts or dresses must be long enough to cover the knees.
 
Attorneys are welcome to visit inmates Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm, except for between the hours of 11am-12:30pm, and 4-5:30pm. Special arrangements for attorneys may be made by speaking to the Jail Administrator.

Full Time Sheriff's Deputies, Full Time Uncertified Cadets

Applications are being accepted for fulltime Certified Sheriff’s Deputies and fulltime Uncertified Cadets in the Sierra County Sheriff’s Department. Uncertified pay: $12.11 hourly. Certified pay: $13.39 hourly.

New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification Preferred.

Benefits include participation in the Sierra County Health Insurance Program and Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). Successful applicant must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check as required for all new Sierra County employees.
